Kathleen Hahn Hutton

Mrs. Hutton received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Illinois State University in 1986, with a specialization in Sculpture.  Her concluding BFA exhibition was a single installation piece comprised of many hanging copper and rice paper sculptures.

She was awarded a scholarship to attend Virginia Commonwealth University's Graduate Sculpture Program, which is now the # 1 Sculpture Program in the United States.  While at VCU, Kathleen was a teaching assistant, When she graduated in 1988, her work included copper, welded steel, bronze, aluminum and mixed media sculptures, as well as many paintings and drawings.

Kathleen was an art college admissions counselor at Montserrat College of Art in Beverly, Massachussetts.  This was a time of growth and expansion for Montserrat, which is an art college which emphasized a traditional foundation program.  She travelled throughout New England, speaking to potential students and reviewing portfolios.  During this time she developed and began teaching the Art Portfolio Class she currently teaches, which is designed to help students prepare for the art college admissions process.  

In addition to being an accomplished artist, Mrs. Hutton has taught a variety of art classes since 1991, including classes such as Elementary Art, Middle School Art, Art Foundations, Printmaking, 3D Art, High School Art, Advanced Art Explorations, and Portfolio Preparations.  She currently teaches art classes in Richmond, VA,  at Westminster Academy, Arete Christian Academy and Veritas School.
